目前認為，平滑肌纖維和橫紋肌一樣是以“肌絲滑動”原理進行 
收縮的。由于每個收縮單位是由粗肌絲（肌球蛋白）和細肌絲（ 
肌動蛋白）組成，它們的一端借細肌絲附著于肌膜的內(nèi)面，這些 
附著點呈螺旋形。肌絲單位大致與平滑肌長軸平行，但有一定的 
傾斜度。粗肌絲沒M線，表面的橫橋有半數(shù)沿著相反方向擺動，所 
以當肌纖維收縮時，不但細肌絲沿著粗肌絲的全長滑動，而且相 
鄰的細肌絲的滑動方向是相對的。因此平滑肌纖維收縮時，粗、 
細肌絲的重疊范圍大, 纖維呈螺旋形扭曲而變短和增粗。
平滑肌廣泛分布于人體消化道、呼吸道以及血管和泌尿、生殖等 
系統(tǒng)；它和骨骼肌不同，不是每條肌纖維（即肌細胞）的兩端都 
通過肌腱同骨骼相連；平滑肌細胞互相連接，形成管狀結(jié)構(gòu)或
中空；在功能上可以通過縮短和產(chǎn)生張力使發(fā)生運動和
